Power Plant

from Apocalypse 1 by XeroPulse

/

about

After the bio plant failed to give me any hints as to what could cause such an event, I decided to check the nuclear power plant. There are so many horror stories about nuclear power, so many false stories. I enter the plant and begin to wander the passages.

The pipes lining the walls constantly emit steam, some of it scalding. These must the reactor coolant pipes. Other than that, the only sound is the humming of the pumps and rattling pipes. I think back to the time when I had to interview the employees of a coal plant that was supposedly haunted. The noise there was unbearable! This is hauntingly calm.

I continue examining any scrap of paper, any marking on the white-washed walls, hoping to obtain some clue, but nothing yields any information at all. Out of nowhere, an alarm begins blaring. The primary cooling system must have given out. The pipes in the walls begin spouting steam like a bomb about to burst as the secondary cooling system comes on line.

This is too strange, I think to myself. No signs of struggle, no damage to the surroundings, or the automated systems, so no electro-magnetic interference has affected the area. I am honestly clueless as to what has happened here.
